The campaign
Timo announced on X on 16 September 2026 that he had never run a marathon and had put his first one up for sale. His site, Brand my Marathon, sells eight spots on the shirt he will train and race in, ending at PEAK Lake Garda 42, a marathon from Limone to Malcesine on 11 April 2027.
The offer combines an auction with fixed buy-now prices. Opening bids run from €49 for each lower-back spot to €399 for the Camera Spot on the upper chest, and each spot can also be bought outright, from €149 to €999. Before the auction a buyer could reserve the opening bid with a 20% deposit and keep the right to match the winning bid. A seven-day public auction opened on 22 September. Two further placements were offered for free: one front spot for an invited sports brand and one back spot for a product picked from his community.
The pitch is content over race day. Each sponsor is promised at least 30 branded appearances, 15 edited photos, four short clips and monthly updates across about six months of training, with refunds if he does not start the race or the sponsor is unhappy after month one. The site says the organiser allows logos on personal kit.
When checked on 24 September the auction was live with about five days left, all eight spots open and €0 in current winning bids. The launch video post had about 6,200 views.

Takeaways for athletes
- Selling a training block rather than one race day gives sponsors more content for the same spot, and the site lists committed minimums.
- A buy-now price next to each opening bid gives decisive buyers a way to skip the auction.
- Offering free placements to a chosen brand and a community member can seed the shirt with logos before paid spots sell.
