The campaign

Bhavya Gor pitched his campaign on being slow: the longer he is on the course, the longer a sponsor's logo is on camera. His site, Sponsor my slow run, offered ten spots on his race kit for a half marathon in Bengaluru. He gives the date as 20 December and links to the Times Internet Bengaluru Half Marathon page; a third-party race listing gives 13 December, so we leave the date unconfirmed.

The spots were sold by auction in US dollars. Starting prices were $120 for each quad, $150 for the side chest and forearm spots, $250 for the front chest and the upper and lower back, and $500 for the back of the shorts, which he promoted as the premium spot. A spot already held could be taken over by paying double the current amount. The ten starting prices add up to $2,090, the goal shown on the site. A 3D model of him in the kit, with music, was the centrepiece of the page, and he also invited shoe brands to send a pair.

He announced it on X on 14 September 2026, calling himself the first runner to auction a race kit spot by spot. The post had about 6,400 views, 50 likes and 17 replies. Bidding closed on 21 September.

When checked on 24 September, the site showed $0 raised, 0% of the goal and all ten spots still open, and its sponsor feed was empty.
