The campaign
Marc Lou, a solo software founder with about 400,000 followers on X, announced on 8 September 2026 that he would sell advertising on his muscles for his first HYROX race, in Izmir on 19 September. Sponsors would get a listing on his site, their logo as a temporary tattoo on race day, and mentions on his YouTube and X accounts.
He ran it as a takeover auction with a two-day window. Each spot opened at $1,000 and every takeover doubled the price, with the outbid sponsor refunded. The launch post offered 10 muscles; the site later grew to 15 spots, adding quads, calves and a premium glutes spot that started at $10,000 and rose in $5,000 steps. The site showed a 3D scan of his body with each logo placed on it, a live visitor feed and a replay of every bid.
The site's history feed records 54 accepted payments worth $223,000 before refunds. After outbid sponsors were refunded, the site reports $112,000 kept when bidding closed at midnight UTC on 11 September. The AI video company Higgsfield ended up holding 10 of the 15 spots. The glutes spot changed hands three times and closed at $20,000 to Stanley, nine minutes before the deadline.
On race day he finished in 1:05:11, fifth in the HYROX Men division and first in his age group, according to published results.

Takeaways for athletes
- A short, fixed bidding window with a visible countdown creates urgency; every payment came in within about 58 hours.
- Doubling prices on each takeover lets a well-known athlete find the market price quickly, but expect one large buyer to sweep many spots.
- Adding a clearly premium spot with its own pricing rule can become the single biggest earner.
- Close bidding early enough to produce the physical logos before race day.
